Prepare Your Hair for the Big Day

Moisture masqueWhile picking the perfect hairstyle for your wedding day is very important, the quality of your hair is even more vital. Styling alone can only cover the appearance of dry, damaged, or over processed locks but so much. You need to prepare your tresses for your wedding day because lets face it – those photos last forever. I found a great product that I guarantee will improve the quality of your hair and send you down the isle with fabulous locks… Agadir Moisture Masque.

ShampooIn a world where so many beauty products promise you a miracle in a jar, it’s so nice to find a product that actually does exactly what it says it will; and Agadir’s Moisture Masque does just that. As someone with chronically dry hair, I’m on a perpetual mission to find products that will make my hair soft and shiny. The product claims to repair, smooth, strengthen, protect color, and shine; I would have settled for two of the five. Seeing some of the ingredients of the hair masque (argon oil and keratin protein) made me hopeful, but I still wasn’t sold yet. When the time came for me to test Agadir’s Moisture Masque I completely changed my mind though.

Healthy shiny hairAfter shampooing my hair it was time to give the masque a shot; the first things that stood out to me were the yummy fragrance and thick creamy consistency. A little bit of this product does go a long way, which is nice because my hair eats up products. I left the masque in my hair for 15 minutes and upon washing it out, my hair was immediately more manageable. Agadir needs to add “detangle” to the list of things that the masque does. I proceeded to blow my hair out and noticed how smooth and shiny my hair looked after only one use. Beside the look my hair felt great! Agadir Moisture Masque is one of my favorite new products because it genuinely improves the condition of hair beginning with the first use. Use the Agadir Moisture Masque twice a week until your wedding date for a killer mane when you say “I do”.

Men’s Grooming 101

Long gone are the days that females are the only ones with everyday routines to maintain their looks; now men are getting in on the action too! Male grooming is no longer a taboo subject as many modern men have no problem admitting that they put daily effort into taking care of themselves. Although grooming is now perfectly acceptable, some men still think it’s either too much trouble or simply do not know how to get started. I recently did a photo shoot with hottie Dominic Adams from the Lifetime series “Devious Maids” for XEX magazine and I’ll break down some simple grooming tips that I used on him that ANY man can handle.

N moisturizerStart off by moisturizing your face. An ashy face or peeling skin is never, ever, ever, ever a turn on. I used good old fashioned Neutrogena moisturizer on Dominic’s face and applied it with a Beauty Blender. This moisturizer is a great option because it gives long lasting hydration and can be found at almost any drug store.

anastasia-brow-gel-profileTame your eyebrows. While Bert was a fabulous character on “Sesame Street” no chick wants a dude that looks like him so please handle those brows. A great way to manage unruly eyebrows is with a good brow gel, I prefer to use the one by Anastasia. It’s a colorless product so it won’t look unnatural and the applicator allows you to comb the product into the brows in order to keep them in place. If some stray brow hairs are not cooperating or are way too long you can clip them down with small scissors like these.

RosebudHydrate your lips. A man with dry, cracked lips is never deemed kissable – by anyone. Keep your lips pillow soft and protect them from chapping with a good lip balm. I love Rosebud lip balm it last for hours and smells great. The best part is that even though it’s called Rosebud, it comes in very manly packaging.

This whole routine takes less than 10 minutes and is well worth the effort. Incorporating these simple things into your morning ritual (right after you wash your face) will keep you looking and feeling hot all day long.

What Is This? Beauty Blender Edition

Beauty Blender, $20

I’ve noticed a trend over the last few months while I’m working, very often someone will point to my makeup station and say “What’s that pink thing and what does it do?” The item that they are referring to is a pink tear drop shaped sponge called a Beauty Blender. I used to give anyone who asked a crazy look because I was shocked that they didn’t know what it was (Beauty Blender marketed the hell out of that thing, I thought people on Mars knew) but it occurred to me that there are plenty of folks that have never seen or heard of this product before. Sometimes as a professional Makeup Artist I forget that not everyone keeps up with the makeup trends – even the ones that I deem omnipresent like the Beauty Blender.

The Beauty Blender makeup sponge was created by a Hollywood Makeup Artist to give a flawless finish to the skin that would look great on HD cameras. Those darn HD cameras pick up every single pore in your face so you really need to make sure the makeup is blended well and has a realistic, non-cakey appearance. It became available to the public a few years ago so that everyday women can look gorgeous too. The sponge starts off pretty small but in order to use it properly, it needs to be immersed in water (this helps the sponge blend makeup to a flawless airbrush finish) and it expands to about twice its original size. Beauty Blenders are very soft and can be used with liquid, cream, or wax foundation. It really is a secret weapon for applying foundation effortlessly!

I use it too!

I personally love the Beauty Blender and use them on the majority of my clients, even the male ones. Initially I was turned off by its price tag of $20, I thought no sponge was that amount of money but after I tried one I changed my mind quickly – I now own 8 of them! You can find them in retail stores like Sephora and Ricky’s NYC but you can buy them directly from their website.
